Description
Our citron cake is baked fresh every morning at our River Valley patisserie, using real lemons the way French bakers have always made it: simply, and without shortcuts.
The flavour is bright and properly lemony, with a natural tartness that is never sharp or overpowering. The crumb is dense and moist, the kind that holds up well and tastes just as good the next day.
It fits into any part of the day. A slice with coffee in the morning, something sweet at tea time, or a light finish after dinner. It also travels well, making it a reliable choice when you need a gift that feels considered without being fussy.
- Made with real lemons, no artificial flavouring
- Baked fresh daily at our River Valley patisserie
- Dense, moist crumb in the classic French loaf style
- Works equally well as an everyday treat or a gift
Already a fan of our Lemon Meringue Tart? The citron cake carries the same bright lemon character, just in a different form.

Serving suggestions
A slice works well at any point in the day, and it pairs particularly well with tea. Earl Grey is the natural match, though chamomile and lemon verbena hold their own against the citrus too.
For dessert, serve it with a spoonful of crème fraiche and a few fresh berries. Simple, and better than it sounds.
- Afternoon tea: goes well with Earl Grey, chamomile, or lemon verbena
- Dessert: serve with crème fraiche or fresh berries
- Gift: packs neatly into a gift box for corporate or personal occasions
- Morning treat: a slice with coffee is a very French way to start the day
