A birthday cake should feel like the easiest part of the evening. This guide helps you order with confidence, pick the right size, and put together a spread that actually looks the part.

Ordering birthday cake delivery in Singapore often comes with a quiet trade-off: go for a fondant sculpture that photographs well but tastes like sugar cardboard, or settle for a dense buttercream that leaves everyone reaching for water after one slice. Neither should still be the norm.

At Pâtisserie CLÉ, classical French technique is applied to what local palates genuinely enjoy: light aeration, restrained sweetness, clean finishes. People assume French pastries are rich by default. In practice, authentic French patisserie builds structure through precise temperature control and quality ingredients, not through excess sugar. The cakes look the part and actually get finished.

The cake should be the easiest yes of the evening. Not the thing you're still anxious about when the candles come out.

Match the Cake to the Moment

A great-looking cake means very little if it's wrong for the room. Before you order, two questions are worth thinking through: who is actually eating, and when in the evening does the cake come out?

After a full dinner, heavy ganache layers and dense sponge land at exactly the wrong moment. Lighter mousses and fruit-forward profiles are a much easier finish. For an afternoon tea or a daytime celebration, you have more room to play with richer chocolate and nut profiles.

Choosing for Someone Else

The Recipient-Driven Flavour Matchmaker

Buying a cake for someone else is trickier than it looks. Pick wrong and the birthday person smiles politely while eyeing the fruit platter. Here is a quick reference by taste profile.

Think Beyond the Round

Tarts & Dessert Boxes for Every Setting

Slicing a tall round cake at an office pantry or a crowded party table is messier than anyone anticipates. French tarts and dessert boxes are a cleaner way to serve birthday desserts. No knife, no stack of plates, no queue forming.

Individual tarts are already portioned, have a satisfying pastry crunch, and photograph just as well as a whole cake on a stand. Browse the full tarts collection or dessert boxes collection.

Dessert Boxes for Office & Group Celebrations

For team celebrations or casual house parties, dessert boxes remove the need for plates, knives, and post-party cleanup. Guests pick what they want and the host actually gets to enjoy the party.

Never Run Short

Portion Sizing at a Glance

Getting the count wrong in either direction is annoying: running short mid-birthday-song, or lugging home three-quarters of a cake nobody touched. Use this as a quick reference before you check out.

Patisserie CLÉ Portion Sizing Guide - comparing 6 inch and 8 inch cakes, tarts, and dessert boxes with serving counts

✦ Hosting Tip

For multi-generational tables, try pairing one 6" centrepiece cake with two 6" tarts in different flavours. You get the birthday moment, everyone finds something they actually want, and the spread looks far more generous than a single cake ever could.

One Order, One Delivery

Build the Complete Birthday Spread

Most party planning involves chasing three different vendors for food, drinks, and dessert and hoping they all show up around the same time. Consolidating into one CLÉ order means one delivery fee, one arrival window, and a table that comes together without the coordination stress.

Browse the party platters collection to add to your order. A few things worth knowing about:

  • Party Platter A mix of bite-sized savoury pastries guests can grab without needing a plate or utensils. Works well for standing receptions and open-house gatherings.
  • Savoury Croissant Sandwich Platter Mini flaky croissants with savoury fillings, available in small, medium, or large. A practical choice for lunch celebrations or late-afternoon parties where guests want something substantial.
  • Premium Hot Coffee Traveller (10 pax) Freshly brewed coffee in an insulated dispenser that keeps drinks hot throughout the event. No waiting, no cold cups.
  • Hot Tea Traveller (10 pax) Available in English Breakfast, Earl Grey, Pure Green, and Lemongrass & Ginger. A fragrant pairing for any dessert table, easy to pour straight from the box.

Singapore Heat Is Real

Handling & Care in a Tropical Climate

Singapore heat is not kind to light mousses and fresh cream. Once room temperature climbs past 30°C, the outer layers start softening fast. A couple of habits make a real difference between a cake that arrives looking pristine and one that doesn't quite.

✦ Key Rule

Keep the cake boxed in the fridge until right before photos and candles, then bring it out. Do not leave cakes or tarts outside the fridge for more than 2 hours, and never leave them sitting in a parked car. The colder it goes in, the better it comes out.

Transport by Car

  • Box on the floor, not the seat Passenger seats tilt backward, which is enough to send a delicate cake sliding on sharp turns or hard braking. Place the box flat on the floorboard directly under an air conditioning vent.
  • Put it straight in the fridge when you arrive Transfer the cake into a fridge set between 0°C and 4°C as soon as you get to the venue. Give it at least 30 minutes to firm back up before bringing it out.

Before You Check Out

Delivery and Fulfilment: What to Know Before You Order

How far in advance do I need to order?

Everything is made fresh in small batches, so orders need to be placed at least 48 hours in advance. That lead time lets the kitchen prepare fresh fruit confits and give the mousse layers enough time to set properly. If you're working on shorter notice, WhatsApp the shop directly to check what's available.

What are the delivery fees and timeslot windows?

Islandwide delivery is $15 flat, or free for orders above $150. All deliveries run between 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Specific timeslots within that window are not available, so if you need the cake by a fixed time, self-collection or arranging your own car courier via GrabExpress or Lalamove is the better option.

✦ Tight Schedule?

Deliveries run 1PM to 6PM with no specific timeslot. If you need the cake at a fixed time, store pickup at 415 River Valley Road gives you full control. Alternatively, book your own car courier through GrabExpress or Lalamove (car, not motorbike) and schedule the pickup yourself.

How do restaurant and venue drop-offs work?

If you are hosting at a restaurant, hotel, or office, let the venue know in advance. The driver will need a named person on site to receive the order. If your table time is fixed and falls outside what the delivery window can cover, store pickup or your own courier will give you more control.

Where is store pickup?

Pick up directly from the shop at 415 River Valley Road. It is the most flexible option for tight schedules: you control the timing completely, and you can come in person or send a courier through GrabExpress or Lalamove during operating hours.
